Dr. Christy Fortney has a passion for dentistry and orthodontics that began when she was 12 years old. Dr. Fortney is a San Diego native who grew up in Rancho Bernardo in a dental family.
She started out cleaning instruments in her father’s oral surgery office, assisted in different disciplines of dentistry and then was motivated to attend dental school to be a specialist in Orthodontics. So she already has over 20 years experience under her belt.
Education and Credentials
Dr. Fortney received her general dental degree in 1998 from Northwestern University and completed a one-year dental residency at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago. She completed her dental training in 2001 with a specialty degree in Orthodontics at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. In 2006, Dr. Fortney obtained her Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (the highest distinction achievable in the specialty of orthodontics).
She is passionate about the teaching and advancement of the specialty and is a National Advocate and speaker for Henry Schein. Dr. Fortney, as an expert in her field, lectures locally and nationally to teach other orthodontists and staff about obstructive sleep apnea and the newest technologies we are using at our practice.
She is a mom and wife. Her husband, Jeff Ciccarella and boys Jake and James keep her grounded. She understands the concerns parents may have regarding orthodontic treatment and looks forward to finding a solution that works for you!
