Meet Dr Fortney

Dr Christy Fortney & Family - Hidden Valley Orthodontics

Dr. Christy Fortney has a passion for dentistry and orthodontics that began when she was 12 years old. Dr. Fortney is a San Diego native who grew up in Rancho Bernardo in a dental family. She started out cleaning instruments in her father’s oral surgery office, assisted in different disciplines of dentistry and then was motivated to attend dental school to be a specialist in Orthodontics. So she already has over 20 years experience under her belt.

Dr. Fortney received her general dental degree in 1998 from Northwestern University and completed a one year dental residency at Ravenswood Hospital in Chicago. She completed her dental training in 2001 with a specialty degree in Orthodontics at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington D.C. In 2006, Dr. Fortney obtained her Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics (the highest distinction achievable in the specialty of orthodontics).

She is passionate about the teaching and advancement of the specialty and is a National Advocate and speaker for Opal Orthodontics. Opal has enlisted Dr. Fortney and her team to evaluate new orthodontic products as both an Alpha and Beta tester, helping insure Hidden Valley Orthodontics remains on the cutting edge of technology. Dr. Fortney, as an expert in her field, has lectured locally and around the country to teach other orthodontists and staff what we do here at Hidden Valley Orthodontics.

It was at college at Loyola Marymount that she met her husband Jeff Ciccarella. They have two sons, Jake and James, who mom hopes someday, will join her in orthodontic practice.
